The Prophecies about Christ

The children will:-

  • God was merciful to tell His people about Jesus.
  • The prophecies God gave were all true and came to occur in Christ.

Bible Story Reference: Isaiah 7:14

Memory Verse:

Job 42:2 (NIV)

I know that you can do all things.

Opening

  • Explain to the children what a prophecy means. ( A prediction of what will happen in the future).
  • Ask them if their parents tell them about things that they plan to do at a later date.

Play a game:

  • Have one kid stand between the doorposts, perpendicularly, where they can see what is going on outside and inside the room. Then have some children outside do an action, and have the child try to explain to the kids in the room what action they have done using actions too. And the children in the room should try to discern what the actions mean.
  • Explain to them, that is what prophecy is like; God uses some people to have a peek at future events, and He asks them to share that with us.
  • Explain to the children what ‘ADORE’ is – Adore means to worship, to love and to respect.
  • Tell them we should adore GOD for sending His son to us.

Bible Story

  • God wanted His people to know that He would send them a saviour.
  • Through His prophets, He told them about it. Through prophets like Isaiah, Micah, Hosea and many more.
  • They prophesied about things like:
  • A Virgin Birth of Christ
    ● “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14)
    ● Jesus was born by Mary who was a virgin.
  • The Birth of Christ

For to us, a child is born, to us, a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the greatness of his government and peace, there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. (Isaiah 9:6-7)

Jesus who was the saviour promised since time passed, was born and He lived as a man on earth. He died for us on the order of the authorities. Through His death, we are saved. He was raised and He reigns forevermore.

Where He would be born – Bethlehem

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from old, from ancient times.”(Micah 5:2)
Jesus was born in Bethlehem, during a census called by the Emperor. Joseph went to be counted in his hometown, Bethlehem, and that is when Jesus was born.

Return from Egypt
“Out of Egypt, I called My Son.” (Hosea 11:1)
Jesus and His parents escaped to Egypt because the King wanted to kill all male children. But then God called Him back from Egypt.

  • Let us worship God for He keeps His promises, and He is also merciful to tell us about them.
